Hi, come along on this lovely November afternoon. It is a wonderful day for a walk and I wanted to share with you an unusual "something about me".
I have the uncanny ability to wear clothing that is similiar or identical to those whom I visit or to places that I visit. Allow me to explain:
The first time I noticed this was many years ago on a trip to Florida to visit relatives. We were accompanied on that trip by two other couples who were also family members. On this particular trip I had purchased a stylish long quilted skirt and a peasant blouse. The skirt had beautiful fall colors in the pattern and the blouse was more neutral in a soft beige with short puffy sleeves and the neckline was elastic so it could be worn off the shoulders. It was the latest fashion, and the year was mid 60's.
Our group of eight had been invited by our host to a very nice restaurant located along the water not far from their neighborhood. I was excited to be wearing my new outfit.
Imagine my surprise when I found that every waitress in that restaurant had on the same outfit that I had worn! The joke at our table was to ask me for more tea, bread or whatever!
Years later while vacationing at the beach, I was having lunch with a good friend who had recently made this particular beach her permanent home. We selected a Thai restaurant close to the middle of the small beach town. After we were seated, my friend burst into laughter. Finally she said for me to look all around me and tell her what I saw. I looked all around; first at the patrons, then at the workers and could not find anything unusual that would be amusing. She urged me to look at the walls and the furniture. "Oh, No," I exclaimed, " I am dressed in the same colors as the decorated interior." I completely blended in with it all. I had selected a teal color of pants and matched it to a lavender shirt trimmed in teal. Just like everything in the restaurant! She looked at me as she was still laughing and said, "you match!"
A few years ago I had an appointment with a local doctor. I selected for my attire that morning a pair of kaki pants and a black pull-over short-sleeved shirt. When I arrived for my appointment I noticed that every worker in the office, the reception area and even the medical staff were dressed in kaki pants and black short-sleeved pull-over shirts. I am certain many of the clients perceived me as an employee.
This past Sunday I dressed for our morning SS class and selected a new pair of pants. The colors were gray, gold, black and white, resembling a tweed pattern. I paired them with a white sweater and a black jacket. When I arrived at our classroom, I noticed that new carpet had been installed the past week. You got it...............my pants looked like the new carpet! My friend Jane, who sees humour in everything, looked at my pants and said, "try not to fall, someone will just walk on you!"
Oh, the pondering of it all........................................................
See you next time...
